What is your role?My role involves:
Manager - LeaderThe leadership role may be prestigious and rewarding, but it can also be extremely challenging. At times you may be stretched beyond your capabilities, or beyond the capacity and capability of your supporting resources. You probably know most of the fundamentals of your role, which typically include setting goals, planning, monitoring progress, and evaluating the following aspects of the organisation:
Even where the details of these tasks may be delegated to other members of staff, a strategic overview and understanding of all these aspects is important if the organisation is to continue to perform effectively and efficiently. For example, if a particular department is failing to perform, compared to the rest of the industry, then you may have to detect that failure yourself and identify a strategy to address it. Is your organisation running at 100 percent efficiency and effectiveness? See the quick checklist. ImprovementIn business, continued increases in efficiency and effectiveness are necessary for maintaining a competitive advantage. Lose that and you may eventually lose your business! One of the first steps to improving business processes is to start by identifying each process, and to then monitor, measure and evaluate their performance. Look at the details of each process and compare these against best practice. If it looks as if a process may be improved by following best practice then try it (probably as a pilot initially) and evaluate the outcome of such changes. Sometimes improvements may be possible by collectively making changes across several processes, e.g. the use of an integrated information system, such as a corporate-wide intranet. Acro Logic can help you to identify and implement best practice in your business processes. However, sometimes "best practice" may not be good enough. In such cases we need to go one step further and take on the role of the Innovator. ICT Developer
